monsoon meditations

there's a storm pounding these parts... they're calling it mindulle and it's packing winds of up to 220 kph. people are missing, some are actually dead. and you know the first thing that popped into mind when i woke up this morning and heard the awful wind howling? i thought "yay! it's turtleneck day!". this... is how utterly self-centered and apathetic i am. shame, shame, shame on me. (by the way, kath, the neighborhood fashionista, said i looked "gorgeous" today in my turtleneck-and-jeans ensemble.)

so. i've given up twinkies. well, for now, at least. and why is that? well, to be honest, i'm sorta breaking out from all the sugar, and that's so not gonna do. i wish i could tell you that deep love for the temple that is my body was what led me to shun the pastry gods. but, no, it's all about vanity in its highest, purest form. anyway, i guess i also realized that i didn't want to die just yet -- clogged arteries can do that to you, i hear -- as i have yet to partake in this thing they call sex on the beach. i've had sex in a meadow, sex in the backseat of a car, sex in an elevator - but no sex on the beach. (i'm thinking this is sex had on the beach -- in the water and all -- and not at the beach, because i have had the latter.) anyway, i figured since an alcoholic drink was concocted in its honor, then it must be worth living for. anyway, been twinkie-free for three days. let's see how long it'll last.
