it rains 10 months out of a year in seattle

duckie told me yesterday, over coffee, that someone in seattle wanted that birthday portrait she made of me (she made one for me and another for her to keep) and posted on her website. (talented gal, duckie is. if she wasn't such a lovey, it would've been all too easy to hate her.) she said she wouldn't dream of giving it to seattle stranger - which is a relief. i wouldn't want my portrait hanging in some strange house. ("so who's that in the portrait?" asked one friend of seattle stranger. "you know what? i've no idea," replies seattle stranger.) and you know, one day, seattle stranger will inevitable get tired of my smiling mug, and then probably all but give it away at some garage sale. and then fast forward to 50 years later, there i'll be - on the wall of some T.G.I.Friday's.
