officially 30. crap.
okay. turned 30. it's been over a week since i turned 30. waited several days before checking in as, i mistakenly thought, this will give me enough time to objectively evaluate 30-hood. i don't feel any different. i don't look any different. (at my brother's 32nd birthday last saturday, one of the guests totally made my day when she said that i "so don't look 30".) although when i took this online survey, i have to admit that it hurt quite a bit when i clicked on the "30 to 39" age box. i know it doesn't mean crap, but it stung. okay? it stung. anyway, still have 350-something days before i hit 31 and start bawling over my lost youth once again. yes, i cried on my birthday. it was, like, the end of an era. not that that era was all that. but still.
anyway, on my birthday, me and a bunch of good friends had dinner at this nice italian resto. there, they presented me with a lovely dvd player. (it was, hands down, the highlight of the day.) and then, in true getting-older-and-wiser fashion, we played putt-putt till midnight. i came in second - which was nice. cous came in dead last though - which she didn't enjoy. kobe, who won, is asking for a rematch. sadistic bastard.
was having a debate with a friend a couple of days ago, and the entire thing was running so long, i decided a little "woman-handling" was in order. unfortunately, as you can see, flirtation skills are the first to go when you hit thurty.
me: ha-HAH! i win!!!
him: Ha ha, not at all. I won't even offer you a draw here.
me: oh c'mon... *pout*
him: Sorry, but I won that one hands down.
me: *fluttering eyelashes*
him: Bwa ha ha, at your fluttering eyelashes.
me: crap. that worked when i was 29, you know.
him: Yeah, in an ... erhm... "older woman"... it is only pathetic... Ah, but cheer up, I love you anyway!
me: bleh.
rollster just came back from puerto galera and informed me that claudio - beach hottie, chef extraordinaire and proprietor of arco balena - has closed shop and disappeared from the galera scene forever. how could this be?!? those milkshakes! those waffles! those dark italian eyes!
(in manner of kate winslet in titanic:) come back, claudio. come back.
if anyone out there knows where i may once again taste claudio's scrumptious banana milkshake (and bask in claudio's loveliness), give me a holler. i'm begging you. give. me. a. holler.
